The Match Centre view shares the excitement and brings the game alive for everyone wherever they are. The Match Centre is accessible through the Sporty Draws & Results (fixtures) website widget, meaning that every club, RSO and NSO can add it to their own website on the Sporty platform with just one click.
Almost one half of all games of community sport played in New Zealand are now scored live. This includes games of rugby, netball, league, softball and hockey.
The competition management system from Sporty, called SKED ('sked' is the international abbreviation of the word 'schedule') is used by most organisers of team sports to manage their game fixtures, results and standings tables. SKED manages almost 200,000 Kiwi sports fixtures per year. It is fully integrated with a live scoring mobile app, also supplied by Sporty.
Major sports organisations such as NZ Rugby and Netball NZ have engaged Sporty to provide their own branded versions of the Sporty live scoring app. These can be found on Google Play and in the Apple Store labelled as 'MyRugby Manager' and 'MyNetball Manager' respectively.
Since the live scoring apps from Sporty are online with the competition management system and the team entry system, they make it easy for coaches and team managers to see their upcoming fixtures and their own squad of players without needing any manual data entry.
The live scoring apps are able to work fully off-line if a person doesn't have access to data (internet) during the game. Once they are online, they sync their results back to the competition management system, so they're available to display automatically on public websites if desired.
The live scoring apps also let coaches and team managers submit starting line-ups, team lists and manage substitutions for each game. Combined with the ability to attribute game events such as tries, goals, penalties and cards, the live scoring apps deliver a rich set of data back to sports organisers. For example, a Netball Centre can generate a report showing how many minutes of court time each netballer has had throughout the season, including details of how often they have played up a grade or for another team.
These game events are now available as a live Match Centre view that shows each game throughout New Zealand as it progresses minute-by-minute. It's over to the competition manager to decide whether the Match Centre view is ticked on in SKED, since this may not be desirable for some junior grades.
To learn more about displaying live draws & results see this support article. To learn how to turn on the Match Centre view, click here (note that if live game events do not appear, you may need to ask your competition organiser to enable the Match Centre in SKED first).
